You're Underestimating the Weekend Getaway

It's nearly August, which means everyone in America who is lucky enough to be employed is hollering about and rushing to put in their vacation time and I am 100% with them.

The office can be the worst place on the planet when you're in a mental rut and going to work every day to deal with problems you didn't create and people you are growing tired of seeing every day is ruining the quality of your health, but some of us even with paid vacation time do not always have the funds readily available to go to Bora Bora Kardashian style with private villas, private planes, and without the thought of coming back to a 9-5 cubicle with no lunch money because going out in Bora Bora was more important than a week of meals.

Maybe we're all aiming too high when we take our vacation time. Maybe we can all stay a little closer to home, spend a lot less money and still feel relaxed and refreshed.

I don't have a great deal of money to go around, which inspired the idea of overnight and long weekend trips which would really help not only my need for fun but also my need for adventure. When you're ready to look around and see the beauty in your own backyard, you would be amazed at what you find. My escapes can range from mystic, which has become a safe haven to NYC to Newport. You can grab a few friends, split some gas and lodging, and enjoy a great weekend away that makes the coming week bearable.

A change of pace isn't just for you either. Maybe you want to take a partner and take some time to focus on your relationship. Spending time away from a typical day-to-day environment is a difference in your overall mood. It's the reboot everyone needs.

If you don't have the funds or the sanity to hardcore plan a trip, then just go away in your area. Don't use the excuse that because you didn't go to Europe you won't experience or see new things. Lessons are everywhere. Happiness is where and what you make of it.

and when all else fails there is always a bottle of wine and nice restaurant with friends....

Happy Travels,

Shani
