After a stressful day, I was able to sit down at MECHA noodle bar and subsequently Milkcraft in Fairfield, CT to get my noodle and my ice cream on with two of my good friends.

Mecha was our first stop. The location is typical for the demographic, yet a little hidden so you feel as though you've found a hidden gem in town. By the time 4:00 rolls around that allure wears off as the lines for Milkcraft and Mecha Noodles begin to round the market square it's located in. We were lucky enough to slip into Mecha noodles first and choose from the simple, yet enticing menu. I order the Paitan ramen which is chicken ramen with black garlic, nori, scallion, egg, and menma. The ramen is priced at $12 and other options on the menu are in the ballpark. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant fits the theme for a typical noodle house. The ramen isn't over seasoned and it's not too hot to take away the appeal of the first bite at all. As you get to the end of your noodles, don't fret at all. Just ask and you'll be provided with more to go with your remaining broth. Mecha is nice enough to bag up any leftovers you would want to bring home as well.

Milkcraft has the feeling of any specialty ice cream bar that you have been too, but this isn't your usual passed down family recipe at all! As you enter the storefront after waiting in line, turn your attention to the chalkboard that will list an array of flavors that aren't for the less adventurous, but completely delicious and worth the try. After you pay, watch the food science happen with liquid nitrogen brings

your ice cream to its new state.

The bubblecone is what you come for, so no scoops or creameebuns when you pick from the amazing flavors and toppings. The cone tastes like a waffle and has a sweet aftertaste that compliments the Vietnamese coffee and fluff concoction that I chose. Mix and match all you want and you can't lose at Milfkcraft. The line is worth the wait.

Until next time,
